Free Resume Templates

Three ATS-safe formats, downloadable as PDF. Single-column layouts with standard headings that parse cleanly in every applicant tracking system — no signup needed.

Classic

The safe default

Black-and-white, Helvetica, generous spacing. The most conservative choice — right for finance, law, government, and any application where the resume is read by traditional recruiters.

Modern

A touch of colour

The same clean single-column layout with violet section headings and rules. Adds personality without risking parsing — good for tech, marketing, design-adjacent, and startup roles.

Compact

More on one page

Serif type with tighter spacing that fits roughly 20% more content per page. Right for experienced candidates who need two pages of history to fit into a tight, readable layout.

Why these templates look "plain"

Deliberately. Two-column layouts, skill bars, portrait photos, and icon lists are the most common reasons a resume gets scrambled by applicant tracking systems — the parser reads columns out of order and drops text baked into graphics. Every template here uses a single column, standard section headings ("Work Experience", "Education"), real selectable text, and consistent date formats, so what the ATS records matches what you wrote. Recruiters spend under ten seconds on a first pass; a clean structure they can scan beats decoration every time.

How to use them

Each download is a filled example — use it as the structural reference for your own document: same section order, same heading names, same one-line-per-role header with dates on the right. Rewrite the bullet points with your real experience, starting each with a strong verb (our action verbs guide has 200+ to steal) and quantifying results wherever you can. When it's done, run it through the free ATS checker to confirm it parses cleanly, and the keyword scanner against the specific job you're targeting. For choosing between chronological, functional, and combination structures, see the resume format guide.
