Resume Keyword Scanner

Match your resume to a job description. See exactly which keywords a recruiter's search would find in your resume — and which ones are missing. Free, no signup.

Paste at least 100 characters of both your resume and the job description.

Why keywords decide who gets found

When hundreds of people apply for one role, recruiters don't read every resume — they search their applicant tracking system the way you search Google: "React", "CPA", "Salesforce admin". Those search terms come straight from the job description. If the exact term isn't in your resume, you don't appear in the results, no matter how qualified you are. This scanner shows you that gap before you apply: it pulls the concrete skills and tools out of any job description and checks each one against your resume with the same exact-match logic ATS search uses.

How to close the gaps honestly

The missing-keywords list is not an instruction to paste every term into your skills section. Go through it and split it in two: terms you have real experience with, and terms you don't. For the first group, work each term into a bullet point that shows the experience — using the job's exact phrasing, since "Postgres" won't match a search for "PostgreSQL". For the second group, leave them out. Keyword stuffing is obvious to recruiters, and interviews expose it fast. A 60–80% coverage of honestly-held skills beats a suspicious 100%.

Repeat for every application

Keyword coverage is per-job, not per-resume — the terms that matter for one posting are dead weight for the next. The highest-performing applicants re-tailor for each role. Before you tune wording, make sure your resume parses cleanly at all with our free ATS resume checker, and read how to beat applicant tracking systems for how parsing and keyword search fit together. If re-tailoring by hand for every application sounds like a chore — that's exactly what Resumate automates.
