Content Writer Resume Example & Template

A content writer resume is judged partly on its own writing, so vague bullets do double damage: they read weakly and they suggest weak work. The strongest content resumes tie writing to a business result, because “wrote blog posts” could mean anything, while “grew organic traffic 60% in six months” proves the writing worked. Hiring managers scan for the SEO fundamentals, the CMS and tools you know, and evidence that your content moved a metric: rankings, sessions, sign-ups, time on page. A portfolio link is often the single highest-signal item on the page.

Tips for this resume

  • Lead with results, not output. “Grew organic traffic 60%” beats “wrote 100 articles” because volume alone doesn’t prove the writing worked.
  • Put a portfolio link in your header. For writers it’s the most direct proof of quality, and its absence is conspicuous, so link two or three of your strongest, on-brief pieces.
  • Name the SEO and CMS tools you’ve used (Ahrefs vs. SEMrush, WordPress vs. Webflow). Content postings often filter on the exact stack the team already runs.
